Stinkin Thinking

Mistaken beliefs are at the root of a lot of anxiety. These deep -seated beliefs about ourselves and the world around us are typically so ingrained into us that we seldom recognize them for what they are-false. Many time they are deceitful and misinformed, inaccurate, and malicious.

Stinkin Thinkin can prevent us from becoming truly free to achieve our full potential, sabotaging our tranquility and creating painful anxieties.

So, what do you truly believe about yourself? What is your value? Are you a failure until you succeed? And how will you go about succeeding to become valuable?

I can’t begin to tell you how often this issue of self-worth and value are at the root of anxiety. Will you allow me to just take a second and remind you who you are in Christ?

If we belong to Christ:

We are united to Him and no longer slaves to sin;

Romans 6:5- For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, (6) knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

We are made alive with Him

Ephesians 2:3-5- even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

We are Conformed to His Image

Romans 8:29 - For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;

We are free from condemnation and walking not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit

Romans 8:1-Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

We are part of the body of Christ with other believers;

Romans 12:4-5- For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

You now possess a new heart

Ezekiel 11:19-20-"And I will give them one heart and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God.

You have been blessed “with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ

The truth is, I could go on and on about the truth of who you are and how valuable you are because Jesus loves you. Take time today and ask Jesus to show you how much He loves you. He will, I promise. Allow me to leave you with these words to meditate over to help you see you’re loved. I pray that…

Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, (19) and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:17-19
